Michael Michalsky to Judge Shenzhen Design Competition

Berlin-based designer Michalsky to join awards jury

Berlin’s biggest name in fashion, Michael Michalsky has been announced as the sole German designer on an international jury for the “Shenzhen Design Awards.”

The international competition in the Chinese City of Design is aimed at showing the creativity and innovation at play in the UNESCO-cited city of creativity. Supported in part by the Guan Shanyue Art Museum, the competition is promoting design in a variety of disciplines.

Along with a jury of prominent designers from Italy, Canada, Japan and China, Michalsky sits in good steed.

“I’m excited to see all the creative ideas coming out of this trendy metropolis,” Michalsky said. “Berlin was the first city to be awarded the ‘City of Design’ by UNESCO in 2006. This award is an initiative to promote the collaboration of these creative centers, and I’m very happy to be a part of that process.”

The jury will be meeting in Shenzhen to discuss the nominated words, with an awards ceremony planned for December 2013.
