Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza

For three days in January, all style eyes were on Hong Kong

Hong Kong may not be the first place to come to mind when someone mentions fashion capital, but for three days in January, the island's textile industry puts on a show to rival other Fashion Weeks held in cities around the world.

The annual Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza welcomed global designers like Madrid-based Amaya Arzuaga, Paris-based Calla Haynes, Paris- and Shanghai-based Masha Ma and Hong Kong’s Henry Lau thanks to the support of DHL, which served as Official Logistics Partner for the third consecutive year. By transporting the 100+ eye-catching outfits and accessories from the designers' studios in Europe and Asia, DHL showcased its flexibility and customs talents while allowing the designers to remain focused on perfecting their showpieces.

Rewarding Sustainable Design With EcoChic

The partnership also included support for the EcoChic Design Award 2013, a runway event organized by Redress as part of Hong Kong Fashion Week World Boutique. The competition promotes environmental sustainability in the fashion industry and is aimed at educating emerging designers on the creation of mainstream clothing with minimal textile waste. As partner to the world's foremost competition for sustainable fashion design, DHL is honoring its commitment to both corporate responsibility and environmental sustainability.

Using our extensive global network, DHL transported more than 40 outfits to Hong Kong from studios throughout Asia and Europe, including the UK, France, Germany, Singapore, Taiwan and Mainland China. It will also support Redress to transport a selection of the finalists’ creations to exhibitions in Shanghai, Taipei, Singapore, London, Paris and Berlin over the next three months so stay tuned to In Motion to see more of these unique garments.
